The Mid-Somerset Festival is delighted to promote this singing competition, made possible by a legacy left by the late Thelma King. This generous award with prizes of £1500 and £750 is intended to provide financial assistance for singers aged between 19 and 30 (at date of competition) of at least Grade VIII standard whose ultimate aim is a career in singing. There will also be a discretionary prize of £500 to the best accompanist on the day.

The panel of adjudicators for the day will be chaired by Ameral Gunson .

If their application is successful, singers must present two pieces for the preliminary round and have a further piece prepared if they are selected for the Grand Final in the evening. All singers must bring their own accompanists. No official accompanist will be available.
