Classes are offered for Wind Bands, Swing Bands and other Bands.

Together with the Orchestra Classes, in 2012 all these come together to make one great celebration of music making. This event will be held in the splendid new auditorium at Hayesfield School, Bath, late afternoon/early evening on Friday 16 March.

The adjudicator will be Sarah Watts, this being her first visit to the Mid-Somerset Festival. She is a freelance musician and a prolific composer for early grades and we are delighted to have engaged her for the Bands and Orchestras and also Chamber Music on Saturday morning.

Wind Bands and Swing Bands competitive classes are divided into 2 main categories:

Junior (Year 8 and under)

Senior (Year 13 and under)

All classes offer free choice.

In addition both categories have a non-competitive "Showcase" class providing opportunity to demonstrate what your school enjoys doing well, be it African Drumming, Folk Music, Blues Band etc.

The Senior Showcase class is open to all ages.

Other Ensemble Events:

• Blues Jam Workshp session.
• Junior Music Makers morning is a non-competitive sesion for up to Year 6 only. Any Junior Bands, Orchestras or Ensembles, tuned or untuned Percussion Groups, or any other Rhythm groups are welcome to come along and share their performances with others. Informal choirs and class groups also take part in this session and everyone has fun with some combined music making.
