Come and join us on Primary Music Day!

This Festival event has become increasingly popular over the last few years and in 2010 will take place on Wednesday 17 March at the Pavilion in Bath. The day is intended for groups from Primary Schools (i.e. aged 11 and under), or other training groups of similar age. Various classes will be presented in Concert format for all to share. We aim to create an opportunity for the children to extend their learning experiences through performing, watching others and participating in some combined music making; above all we hope the day will be enjoyable and fun for everyone.

Junior Music Makers

This session is non-competitive; an adjudicator will help lead the morning involving the children in some combined music making at intervals throughout the session. Each performance will receive adjudication but will not be graded. The adjudicator’s comments to the children will be positive (emphasizing their strengths), while teachers will receive written comments which we hope will be of help in the future. Each group will also receive a memento of the occasion to take back to school.

Performances are grouped into four classes but these groupings are not rigid and we can usually accommodate any musical performance that you would like to share with others. Come and show us what you can do. You can be assured that you and your children will be warmly welcomed.

Junior Choral Afternoon

The afternoon session will involve some low key competition but the Concert format and sharing element will continue; participating choirs are encouraged to attend for as much of the afternoon as is reasonable for their children. The arrangement of the afternoon will depend on the number of entries in each of the four classes but will include adjudication for each group and a singing workshop led by the adjudicator.

An official accompanist will be available throughout the afternoon if required.
